What can I say, except “Heil Bank of America”, “Heil J.P.Morgan” and “Heil Hitler”

However, it’s not just the political right that is tempted by Nazi or fascist tactics. In the UK, the politically correct have much the same dislike of free speech.

For example there is the enthusiasm amongst Labour members of parliament for clause 5 of the 1986 public order act which until recently made it illegal for anyone to insult anyone else (scarcely believable, isn’t it?). Twice as many Labour MPs wanted Clause 5 retained as Tory or Lib Dem MPs. See this poll of MPs done by Comres.

Apart from the fascist or Nazi element in Clause 5, the hypocrisy is hilarious: I mean come election time, politicians insult each other left right and centre.

So I’d like to give a metaphorical Hitler salute to all Guardian reading Labour MPs who favoured Clause 5, and members of the political correctness brigade.

There we are: no one can accuse me of political bias.
